about
Marsha
Marsha Anderson did not
begin quilting until she received a wedding quilt from her husband’s
Tennessee grandmother. Made from old shirts and dresses and backed
with a blue plaid flannel, it inspired her to copy it in the fabrics
of the day as a gift to a brother. With that quilt a passion was
born!
For the most part Marsha is a self taught quilter. As with many
quilters, she began sewing for her dolls at a very young age, then
joined the local 4-H club at age 10. Over the next 8 years she won
many blue ribbons and State Show honors for her sewing. In past
lives she has worked as a registered nurse, done alterations and
made window treatments. Her “real” job is sewing new skins (called
envelopes) for antique fabric covered airplanes. She has made
envelopes for two museum airplanes but most of her work is flying
overhead in the bright blue skies of the world.
In 2008 Marsha decided to make a selvage edge quilt project
and asked friends to send her their selvages. Later she wrote and
published a pattern for that project, selling it to local quilt
shops. A major quilt magazine purchased the rights to that
first pattern for their holiday 2010 issue.
Marsha lives with her husband, Dave, on Brighton Airport in
Michigan. They have two adult children, Bob and Sharon.
Her quilts are a precious
legacy, and Marsha hopes they bring joy and comfort to all
they touch.
